Adelaide defeat North Queensland in Black

Adelaide United donned a new black kit on Sunday, as they defeated A-League cellar dwellers North Queensland 2-0 at Dairy Farmers Stadium.

Going into the game as favourites, the Fury were looking for just their second ever win, but they were denied the chance to rocket up the table thanks to two superb strikes in the second half.

Lucas Pantelis scored in the 60th minute, as Fury Goal-keeper Paul Henderson gifted him, kicking it straight to Travis Dodd who passed it to the rampant Pantelis who finished it off with a superb strike.

The second goal came in injury time when second-gamer Matthew Leckie scored one of the Reds goals of the season after coming off the bench and twisting and turning through the Fury defence and calmly slotting the goal.

Adelaide United really have to praise goal-keeper Eugene Galekovic after numerous superb saves to keep United in the contest.

Fury striker Daniel McBreen was lucky not to score on numerous occasions and frustration started to show with the Fury as referee Chris Beath lost his patience and handed out 3 yellow cards to the the home team.

This Monday Adelaide face Newcastle at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Crowd: 6745
Goals: Pantelis 60', Leckie 90+2'
Bookings: Fowler 50', Wilson 58', Hingert 79', Dodd (Adelaide) 88'

United Desperate for a win against North Queensland

The last time these two teams met, at Hindmarsh Stadium last month, Adelaide were lucky not to win - and then lucky not to lose.

Adelaide were up 2-1 and then North Queensland scored two goals just before injury time.

2-3 North Queensland.

Enter Lucas Pantelis.

3-3 was the end result thanks to a Pantelis penalty.

This time round Adelaide need to win. No exceptions.

A win could see Adelaide rocket up to third on the A-League ladder, whilst a loss will see them drop to dead last - 10th.

Robbie Fowler is a man that needs to be stopped and a man that will be stopped - Adelaide's defence should be good enough, especially with Eugene Galekovic as the goalkeeper.

For Adelaide, new recruit Lloyd Owusu will need to be stopped after scoring his first goal against the Fury just 4 weeks back.

Prediction: North Queensland Fury 0-0 Adelaide

Brebner Sinks United as they drop down the table

A goal in the 90th minute proved too much for Adelaide United tonight, as they were defeated by the Melbourne Victory, 2-0, at Hindmarsh Stadium.

United, going into the game hoping to erase the memories of last seasons Grand Final loss, were on top in the first half, despite being down by a goal at half time. Adelaide were dominating the possesion and getting plenty of chances with set plays, but weren't able to convert.

The crowd of just over 15,000 were on hand to witness an early, unbelievable goal from Nick Ward, who scored unintentionally.

Going into the break down, Adelaide needed something for them to lift, but nothing sparked in the second half.

There were plenty of opportunities for the Reds, especially for Owusu, Dodd and Hughes.

Melbourne were simply just the better team on the night and Grant Brebner put the icing on the cake in injury time, with lazy defence from Adelaide allowing Melbourne to score easily.

Adelaide are now sitting in sixth position on the table, but are in danger in finishing the round in a lowly ninth place, while Melbourne are sitting at a cool 4th.

Crowd: 15038
Goals: Ward (6), Brebner (90)
Bookings: Keving Muscat 23' , Leigh Broxham 43' , Travis Dodd 80' , Glen Moss 86'

Brisbane Roar FC

Adelaide United are the best!

If you wish to view Brisbane Roar just click here (http://roarfc.blogspot.com) Matt, who made the Brisbane blog, is a copycat. He has copied most things, for example results of games, polls and player pictures.

It is a good idea to do this, as it is very informational, and helps all of those Roar supporters, or just football followers.

Matt's blog is a good one, but could be better with some more variety.

I advise YOU to stay on Adelaide's bandwagon because we all know they are the best team in the history of the Hyundai A-League!
