Brisbane Shock Adelaide at Hindmarsh Stadium

Brisbane Roar has defeated Adelaide 2-0 at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday Night to go above them on the Hyundai A-League ladder.

Going into the game as unassailable favourites, United were shocked when Heinaldo was awarded a penalty early in the game, from which appeared to be a dive.

Scott Jamieson and all of Adelaide were furious when referee Craig Zetter stood by his ground.

Sergio Van Dijk had no problem slotting the penalty, as he proved to be one of the best strikers in Australia.

Adelaide had many of missed opportunities and should've converted on a number of occasions as the Roar defence was getting frustrated early, with 5 yellow cards - 3 for kicking or throwing the ball away.

Adelaide were lucky not to have gone down 3-0 after exciting young gun Mitch Nichols scored an uncounted goal.

But no one in Hindmarsh were complaining when Adelaide were awarded a penalty and surprisingly Lloyd Owusu was given the shot. Stand-In goal-keeper Griffin McMaster made an outstanding save to deny United a sniff in the game.

After the loss Adelaide have now dropped to 8th on the ladder.

On Friday week Adelaide United host out-of-form Gold Coast United at Hindmarsh Stadium. There is a one week break due to the FIFA International Break.
